SUCCESS STORY

The Joy of Freedom

They are born free but poverty forced them to be agricultural labourers. Sixty five women of village Bhitara Andhari village of Erasama Block of Jagatsinghpur district in Orissa led a cursed life. Sustaining the family in a dignified manner was a day dream for them.
There appeared MOTHER and through a series of awareness campaigns, came out of the clutches of the powerful and moneyed landlords. On being informed of their legal standings, they rediscovered their self and smelled the joy of freedom. Their children, 19 in total, shed the tag of child labourer and took to studentship.
They were roped in as members of women SHGs to reap the benefits of the microfinance facilities.

360 Degree Metaphor

The village Mangapur in the District of Jagatsinghpur, Orissa, having around 90 house holds, was a typical Indian village, without the basic sanitary infrastructure. The entire population of about 600 were defecating in the open. MOTHER jumped into action and constructed toilets for all the families of the village. This has not only enhanced the image of the villagers, but also prevented the villagers from infectious diseases, emanating from dirty conditions. Not only could their healthy life be secured, but the expenses on account of treatment of diseases could also be minimized.

Defensive and Safe Driving

In spite of various measures undertaken to prevent road accidents, the rate of accidents does not seem to ebb. To address the very issue, MOTHER has been getting involved in sensitizing the people on road safety. A rash driver Mr Dhruba Parida, who had 5 accidents to his credit, has been roped in by the organisation as an ambassador of road safety. He is the protagonist of a street play, a publicity campaign and a road safety awareness which have been filmed and already displayed in various forums. He is also the poster boy of a booklet titled ‘Citizen’s Guide’, published by the organization and widely circulated as a part of awareness campaign, in the presence of the Collector and the SP, Jagatsinghpur District.

Hope Rechristened

In India, where 70 % of populations are under the 35, human resource development stands pivotal for a significant demographic dividend.
MOTHER, the organization engaged in social reformations for over a decade in various districts of Orissa, during its survey of distressed children, stumbled across a seven year old girl, named Lipika in an impoverished village of Jagatsinghpur district. Born to daily labourer parents, she was deprived of basic nourishment and elementary education under the backdrop of poverty. We volunteered to fulfill her dreams for higher education and facilitated financial and logistic support.
Bewildered, Lipika, a Class V student, recounts her troubled past and expresses her hopes for a prosperous future.

Life Rekindled

India nurtures dreams of a ‘Healthy India’ through a universal health care system. Born to Niranjan Bhoi and his helpless wife Uttarjo, Sambhu, now 4, was detected of congenital heart disease very early in his life. The health infrastructure and amenities available in his village was woefully inadequate. Cardiac correction required huge amount.
MOTHER came forward to rekindle the life in Sambhu, who had lost hopes of living a full life. Now, with the sincere efforts of the MOTHER, he is leading a healthy life and pursuing education purposefully.
We at MOTHER received immense support from many celebrities and graciously acknowledge and appreciate their involvement.
MOTHER strives for improving the quality of life of the down trodden and looks for providing them a secure future through sustainable development and inclusive growth.
Hence, we call upon the celebrities to be a part of achieving the above mentioned super ordinategole.
