Consumer protection is of supreme importance in view of the fact that there has been increases in the demand for
large variety of goods and services. Consumer rights are now an integral part of our lives like a consumerist way of
life. Most of the consumers are apathetic because they are not aware of their rights and they do not have the
strength to resist/ react whenever they are cheated or exploited and they suffer silently.
In view of above, we play a crucial role by assisting the consumer in getting a fair deal for all their purchases, and in
settling their grievances; our role is not only to educate and lead the consumers with respect to redressal of their
complaints but also to make the consumer movement a reality through coordinated efforts.
We have accelerated Consumer Awareness towards their rights by way of
(a)Publication and distribution of relevant brochures.
(b) organised seminars and workshops.
We have facilitated the affected consumers to various grievances redressal forums / platforms.
We provided support and legal advice to consumers who are in need of such advice. We also run
voluntary Advisory centres for the guidance of consumers.
We extended support to the Government by informing the government agencies about adulteration,
artificial scarcity, inferior quality products and other such evils for timely intervention.
We have organised 7 consumer awareness programmes during the year and organised 6 training camps
in different schools/educational institutes.
There has been beneficial change which has affected each and every individuals touched upon for the general
awareness about the consumer rights.
