Livelihood

The livelihood projects, apart from being instruments for development, recognize the most important concern of the poor. We operate as platforms functioning at various levels for assisting the rural poor to have a decent livelihood Our projects aim to have -
Understanding the key issues and challenges that the poor face in sustaining their livelihoods and microenterprises. We formulated strategy and guidance for the needy, moving them from subsistence to sustainable levels. We have concentrated and worked on the social and economic mobilization of women`s self-help groups (SHGs) and common interest groups (CIGs).
We extended the inclusive financial services to bridge the credit gap of the poor, to meet the core objective of our rural livelihood projects. 12The lack of organizational / managerial capacity amongst the poor has been identified by us and we systematically boosted their capacity to have meaningful impact. We have put emphasis to increase the assets of the poor and their capacity to access the market .The poor and poorest households in the projects have acquired assets and many have shifted from wage employment to self-employment.
We have undertaken 4 different training programmes in the domain of agriculture, horticulture and 3 training programmes for non-farm vocation. Facilitated 70 entrepreneurs to take up self-employment ventures. The livelihood projects have enabled the poor to access finance, build capital assets and access markets. Our intervention had positive impact on human development indicators, such as food security, health care and school attendance.
